Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct
The essential elements of character building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: trustworthiness, respect, caring, responsibility, fairness and good citizenship. By using these six pillars of character, we can achieve the highest form of equality in competition.
As a parent/guardian I will,
- Remain at ALL practices and games. If I cannot remain there, I will advise the head coach, that another adult is staying with and is responsible for my child(ren).
- not force my child to compete in any activity he/she does not wish to do
- remember that children participate to have fun and the game is for the youth, not adults
- inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that my affect the safety of the child and/or others
- be a positive role model for all children and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect, be courteous and demonstrate positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at any game, practice or activity
- not use tobacco products during a MTAA sponsored activity
- not be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs during a MTAA sponsored activity
- not use foul language and/or gestures
- not engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct such as booing, taunting and/or exhibiting any type of disruptive behavior
- teach my child to play by the rules and follow the standards set forth in the Player Code of Conduct
- teach my child that doing your best is more important than winning
- respect the coaches decisions and request a time to talk to him and/or the appropriate sport commissioner to discuss/resolve any differences between myself and the coach
- refrain from doing or saying anything that could undermine/compromise the integrity of MTAA in the eyes of other parents and/or associations
- applaud both teams at the end of competition regardless the outcome
- instruct my guests to conduct themselves in accordance with the above guidelines
I understand that if I do not follow the above guidelines, my child’s team may have to forfeit the game because of my actions.
I agree that if I do not follow the above guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary actions and/or suspension set forth in the MTAA Suspension Policy.
Thank you.
